What is DiagramUp?

DiagramUp turns labeled diagrams into interactive study sets. Scan or import a diagram, review the labels the app finds, add definitions if you want flashcards, and practice until the material sticks.

How do I scan a diagram?

On an iPad, open the Scan tab and use the camera or choose an image from your photo library. Crop the image so the diagram and its labels are clear. Normal scanning uses Apple Vision, OpenCV, and local caption filtering on your device. It works offline and does not send the image to Broweleit Ventures or Google.

What is Enhanced Scan?

Enhanced Scan is an optional limited-beta way to ask Google Cloud Vision for additional text recognition. It does not replace normal local scanning. When you choose Enhanced Scan, DiagramUp asks for consent for that image and a fresh Sign in with Apple, then sends an upright copy through the DiagramUp backend to Google. Apple sign-in requests no name or email.

Images and recognized text are handled in memory for the request and are not stored by the DiagramUp backend. Google says online Vision images are processed in memory and not persisted to disk. The Vision request uses Google’s global endpoint, so processing is not guaranteed to remain in Oregon. Read the Privacy Policy for operational-record and hosted-log details.

Does caption filtering use Enhanced Scan?

No. DiagramUp identifies likely figure captions and page text locally. Including or excluding those items from a quiz does not make an additional Google request or use Enhanced Scan quota.

Why did I reach an Enhanced Scan limit?

The beta allows up to 100 accepted requests per Apple account per UTC calendar month and 1,000 accepted units per month across the beta. Short rate limits and temporary capacity limits can also pause requests. An accepted request can count even if Google later times out or returns an error. Local scanning remains available, and no subscription is currently deployed.

What happens if Enhanced Scan fails?

Your local diagram remains unchanged. Check your connection and try again later, or continue with local scanning and manual corrections. DiagramUp does not silently upload the image or retry it in the background after you leave the flow.

What if a label is missing or incorrect?

Review every detected label before saving the study set. You can correct its text, add a missed label, remove an unwanted one, move its target, and enter your own flashcard definition.

How do I review on iPhone?

Prepare and edit diagrams on iPad, then turn on iCloud sync to make your decks, diagrams, and progress available on your iPhone for review. Both devices must use an available iCloud account.

Why is iCloud sync not working?

Check that you are signed in to iCloud, iCloud Drive is available, and DiagramUp is allowed to use iCloud. You can check or change sync from DiagramUp’s Settings screen. The app remains usable locally when sync is off.

How do study reminders work?

If you enable reminders and grant notification permission, DiagramUp schedules a daily reminder on your device for 7:00 PM. You can turn reminders off in DiagramUp’s Settings or in your device notification settings.

How do I clear my study data?

Use Clear study data in DiagramUp’s Settings. This clears local study data. When iCloud sync is enabled and available, DiagramUp also attempts to delete its synced deck, diagram, and study-session records from your private iCloud database.

This action does not reset Enhanced Scan quota or automatically delete cloud usage records, request-state records, or hosted service logs. Those records expire according to the periods in the Privacy Policy, and cloud deletion is asynchronous.
