ShipSight Privacy Policy

The short version

• ShipSight has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
• Measuring happens on your iPhone. Camera and LiDAR data never leave it.
• To get rate quotes, the app sends the sender's and recipient's name and address and the package's size and weight to our shipping-rate provider, Shippo.
• If you buy labels, ShipSight charges a small fee per label through Stripe, our payment processor, so Stripe collects your card and email for us. We never see your card number.
• If you buy a label, it's bought on your own Shippo account, and Shippo charges you for the postage.
• We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it for advertising.

Information that stays on your iPhone

• Measurements. ShipSight uses the LiDAR sensor and camera to measure your items and boxes. This is processed on your iPhone. No images, video or 3D scans are sent to us or anyone else.
• Your return address, saved packages and recent shipments. The app saves these on your iPhone so you don't have to type or measure them again. For a label you bought, that includes its tracking number and the link to the label file from Shippo. They are deleted if you delete the app.
• Marketplace and shipping sign-ins. If you connect eBay, Etsy, Shopify or your own Shippo account, the sign-in token is kept in your iPhone's Keychain. Disconnecting in Settings removes it.

Information we collect: rate quotes

When you ask for shipping rates, ShipSight sends:

• the sender's name and address,
• the recipient's name and address, and
• the package's dimensions and weight

to our server, which passes them to Shippo to get quotes from USPS, UPS and FedEx. Shippo may share the addresses with those carriers to calculate rates.

Our server doesn't store this information. Shippo keeps a record of each quote request in our Shippo account, under Shippo's own privacy notice: https://goshippo.com/privacy. We use these records only to provide rate quotes and to fix problems with them.

If you connect your own Shippo account, quotes come from your account instead. The app then sends the same details straight from your iPhone to Shippo, and they're kept in your Shippo account, not ours.

Buying labels

Labels are bought only on your own Shippo account, after you connect it. When you buy one, the app sends your choice of rate straight from your iPhone to Shippo, using the access you gave ShipSight. Shippo makes the label from the addresses and package details already sent for that quote, shares them with the carrier as any label requires, and charges the payment method on your Shippo account. The label and its record stay in your Shippo account, under Shippo's privacy notice. None of it passes through our server. ShipSight's own fee for the label is described below.

Marketplace connections

If you choose to connect a marketplace, you sign in on that marketplace's own page. ShipSight never sees your password.

• eBay, Etsy and Shopify. The app reads your recent orders, including each buyer's name and shipping address, so it can fill in where a package is going. Some of these requests pass through our server so it can add our app's credentials. Our server doesn't store your sign-in tokens or order information.
• Poshmark, Mercari and Depop. The app's checks for these work without an account and without sending anything to us.

Our server and service providers

Our server runs on Cloudflare. Like any web service, it receives your device's IP address with each request. We use the IP address only to limit how many quotes one address can request in a minute. We don't keep it or use it to find your location. Cloudflare's privacy policy is at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

ShipSight's label fee

ShipSight charges a fee for each label you buy, added up and charged once a month. Test labels are free. You add a card for it on Stripe's own page, and Stripe processes the payments under its privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy.

• Stripe collects your card details, your email address, and whatever billing details its page asks for. They are kept in our Stripe account.
• We can see, in our Stripe account, your email address, your card's brand and last four digits, your invoices and whether they were paid, and how many labels each invoice counts, each identified by its Shippo transaction number. We use these only to bill the fee and to help you with it.
• On your iPhone, the app keeps a code from our server that identifies your billing to it, in the Keychain, and a list of labels whose fee hasn't been sent yet. Our server doesn't store any of this.

You can change your card, see your invoices, or cancel in Settings, which opens Stripe's billing page.

Payments and Apple

ShipSight never sees your card number. Postage is paid through your Shippo account, and Shippo processes that payment. ShipSight's fee is paid through Stripe, as described above. If the app offers in-app purchases, Apple processes them and we don't receive your payment information. If you choose to share crash reports with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports.

Children

ShipSight is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

• You can use ShipSight's measuring without requesting rates or connecting any account.
• You can disconnect any marketplace or Shippo account in Settings at any time, and cancel ShipSight's billing there too.
• You can delete everything the app stores on your iPhone by deleting the app.
• You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing us. We hold nothing on our own server. For quote records in our Shippo account, we'll pass your request on to Shippo, and billing records in our Stripe account are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Changes to this policy

If we change how ShipSight handles information, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
